Tithes and offerings
God tells us to give Him 10% of everything He blesses us to receive. This is often called the tithe.
He also encourages us to go above the tithe and invest His resources in His work. These gifts are called offerings. They are usually given to a local church’s general fund, or set aside to support world missions.
These are the ways God has chosen to provide for the financial needs of the church as we work to accomplish His purposes.
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7
